18:45 First results from clinical trials on volunteers suffering from Alzheimers. Prof Magda Tsolaki details the first results from high oleocanthal Hellenic EVOO from Yiannis olive grove consumed on a daily basis.

RESULTS: SOON STANDBY Significant statistical difference between the subjects that were consuming high oleocanthal EVOO. Improved memory of story, memory of numbers improved, The positive results were from the addition of high oleocanthal EVOO without any other diet intervention.  Subjects that consumed supermarket bought extra virgin olive oil: no change

Results from clinical trials on patients suffering from Leukemia fed with high oleocanthal EVOO from Dafnis family The Governor from Corfu. Can oleocanthal kill cancer cells in humans? The other olive oil had a low concentration of oleocanthal but high in other phenolic compounds.

RESULTS: Decrease in 80% of patients of the white blood cells was observed without toxicity to other cell populations.

Patients with Leukemia who were not under any drug therapy.

SURPRISE!!!! Study on taste receptors for oleocanthal and oleacein did not register bitter taste. No activation of bitter receptors. Oleomissional however does activate the bitter receptors as does oleuropein aglycon and ligstroside aglycon respectively.
