ARISTOLEO FINALLY PUTS OLIVE OIL WHERE IT BELONGS:

IN THE COOLER

AND ARISTOLEO DATA-LOCKED PROTOCOL TRACKS AND TRACES ORIGIN & QUALITY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DECEMBER 12, 2022, TORONTO CANADA

ARTEMIS ALLIANCE INC. announces Aristoleo DataLok and Aristoleo Coolers as the  first end-to-end solution for controlling and maintaining the quality of the distinct category of High Phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil all along the supply chain. From storage, to distribution and display in online or retail shops in specially designed small, medium & large coolers set at the ideal temperature of 12-15° C.

The first Aristoleo Cooler was introduced in Athens, Greece at the World Olive Center for Health (WOCH) and the second, in Manassas Virginia, home of Laconiko’s OLIO NUOVO the first certified High Phenolic EVOO in the USA.

Laconiko OLIO NUOVO is the first Aristoleo Certifed High Phenolic EVOO in the USA

It all started when the EU 432/2012 Health Claim Labelling Regulation was approved for polyphenols in extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). This created another distinct category of EVOO with a health claim or High Phenolic EVOO. The minimum required concentration of polyphenols to qualify was set at: 250mg of polyphenols per kg of EVOO.

EU Health Claim stated: “Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress”.  What it means in plain language is that polyphenols in EVOO contribute to the reduction of bad cholesterol. (1)

Following a number of successful clinical trials initiated by Dr. Prokopios Magiatis from Greece in the USA, Cyprus, and Spain, the value of High Phenolic EVOO has increased but there is a cost to produce it and a cost to protect it.

High Phenolic EVOOs are produced from early harvested green, unripened olives. High Phenolic EVOOs are in demand with health conscious and discerning individuals looking, not only for taste but, more critically for its exceptional health benefits. (2)

It is known that temperature fluctuations effect human performance.

Now science has shown definitively how temperature effects the quality of olive oil. Even after bottling, High Phenolic EVOO may lose an average 46% of its phenolic content over 12 months when stored at room temperature. (3)

“Although the health claim is very narrow in its wording people are discovering on their own that polyphenols have a very positive effect for many conditions. Individuals  are seeking High Phenolic EVOO for some very serious conditions and it is incumbant upon those who supply it to be forthcoming and transparent. People’s health and wellbeing may literally depend on it.”  Marilyn Harding, Artemis Alliance Inc.

The “PHENOLIC EFFECT”

The EU 432-2012 regulation came into effect the same month that Dr. Prokopios Magiatis announced the development of a new, fast and accurate method of measuring quantitatively all the phenolic compounds in EVOO. The development of the qNMR method marks the major turning point for the olive oil industry. Together with the health claim, it has helped shift the focus from placing the emphasis on taste and acidity levels to the concentration of polyphenols and their enhanced health benefits.

“The health benefits of olive oil are 99% related to the presence of the
phenolic compounds and not the oil itself” Nasir Malik, USDA Researcher. (4)

Following  7 successful clinical trials, the demand for High phenolic EVOO is increasing. This prompted Aristoleo to take action to  protect phenolic compounds in EVOO from oxidation caused by fluctuating temperatures. This type of EVOO requires a greater concentraion of olives per liter of olive oil. It can take up to 10 times more olives to make one liter of High Hhenolic EVOO than ordinary Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is the reason for the high cost and the need to protect it.

HP EVOO is gaining recognition as a wellness supplement or even  a therapeutic agent. This is due to the high level of phenolic compounds found in early harvest EVOOs from specific varieties of olive trees. Recent clinical trials have indicated the “medicinal” effect may be possible with the consumption of a minimum 20mg of polyphenol-rich olive oil per day.

KEEPING IT COOL

The olive oil industry has known for over 3,000 years that olive oil needs to be stored in a cooled environment in order to maintain the quality. Underground cellars seen in ancient ruins where giant olive oil filled amphorae were buried in the earth maintained temperatures  below 16°C or 60°F

The modern olive oil industry under the guidance of the recently created IOC (International Olive Council) in 1959, chose to compete with the seed oils by displaying EVOO on the shelf beside them instead of in temperature controlled coolers. This is all about to change thanks to the work of Artemis Alliance’s Aristoleo Coolers, and the World Olive Center for Health’s  method of measuring the phenolic content of olive oil by qNMR (quantitative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance).

“People with serious conditions depend on having access to a specific concentration of phenolic compounds in EVOO on a daily basis to support their health. We make sure the quality is maintained by providing the first end-to-end solution for high phenolic EVOOs. We also need to ensure more of the money ends up in the olive growers hands so they can continue to improve the quality. These olive growers must sell their production at a fair price in order to continue producing it.” Athan Gadanidis, creator of the Aristoleo cooler and the Aristoleo DataLok.

TRANSPARENCY

High Phenolic EVOOs now have their very own Aristoleo Cooler and the Aristoleo Data-Locked Protocol to track & trace and random test each batch to ensure the phenolic concentrations are maintained at an effective level (within acceptable levels). Each brand and batch number is assigned an Aristoleo DataLok QR Code that connects to a lightweight, yet secure blockchain-like system. Purchasers can access all relevant information at point of purchase.

Pertinenat data including the source of the olive oil, variety, the harvest time, random testing results and other quality parameters are secured on 3 databases online and offline to ensure there is an immutable record. All the data will be transparent and accessible by scanning the QR code on each bottle. Each database will be controlled by a different entity. The system guarantee tso provide as much security as blockchain at a fraction of the cost and energy usage.

END-to-END SOLUTION

The goal of Artemis Alliance is to grow internationally on a secure foundation by placing  Aristoleo Coolers in specialty or organic or holistic outlets (or approved eCommerce outlets) to create cooler distribution networks. The focus is to support producers in protecting the optimum quality of their oil once it leaves their possession and to serve the end user with a High Phenolic EVOO they can trust. Aristoleo Coolers offer a specialty foods or health food retailer an attractive all in one boutique within a store. Each cooler hosts a range of certified brands in four potencies of phenolic content to meet individual and family budget and health objectives.

Artemis Alliance Inc., involved in the testing and research of High Phenolic EVOO since 2012, will seek strategic alliances in olive oil producing countries to assist in the growth of the sector, generally, and to secure the network against unsubstantiated claims or ciriticism for the health benefits of High Phenolic EVOO.

With a presence on each side of the Atlantic, in Greece and America, the company looks next to supplying the UK market. Interest is quickening from Italy, Croatia, Spain, Cyprus, Ireland, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia.

Artemis is there to develop those relationships in support of producers and consumers alike.
