Aristoleo Awards 2019 Gastronomy Health
Etymologically, the word “gastronomy” is derived from Ancient Greek γαστήρ, gastḗr, “stomach”, and νόμος, nómos, “laws that govern“, and therefore literally means “the law of regulating the stomach”. Gastronomy means health promoting ingredients for nourishment above all. This is the original meaning and substance of recipes which can be fully expressed by the people that created it.

Aristoleo Ltd is a partner in the ARISTOIL Interreg MED Programme. Co-financed by the European Regional Development fund and the participating partners. ARISTOIL is a 3 year 5 country study to increase the competitiveness of the MED region olive producers by researching and employing best practices to produce a high phenolic EVOO that complies with the EU 432/2012 health claim labeling regulation, which allows the following health claim on the label.
“Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress.”
This is when science stepped in to create the truly premium quality EVOO, scientifically proven and easily tested.
“The claim may be used only for olive oil which contains at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) per 20 g of olive oil. In order to bear the claim information shall be given to the consumer that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil.”
This is the moment that transparency arrived to the olive oil industry. This is the moment the Aristoleo Awards were created to recognize, promote and distribute the truly best olive oil in the world. Science is unbiased.
